Day 100
Day 100
Back on track with fresh produce on the first day of this season's CSA. Red and green lettuce, green garlic, Hakurie turnips, kale, asparagus, tatsoi (yay!!), and the star of the show, strawberries.

This is actually yesterday's post that I didn't get up before bedtime -- I was busy in the kitchen. I ate asparagus, turnips and their greens with sliced green garlic, and some of the last few blue potatoes from the end of last season. All roasted in olive oil. Yum, and leftovers today.

This morning of course: cereal with the last of the fresh strawberries. Oh yeah I ate those too last night; some for appetizer, some for dessert. All delicious.

Welcome back to me!

My biological odometer turns over just after 4PM on January 23rd each year, thus rendering the time between the start of most peoples' new year (Jan. 1) and now a kind of twilight non-time to me. This gives me a nice excuse to put off implementing any of those kind of improvements one feels compelled towards until well after the chaos of the holidays.

Inspired by [livejournal.com profile] luluminion's 365 Days of Photos posts I've decided that this year's discipline* will be a picture-a-day to document Year 44. And what better thing to document than the fact that....by my Own Personal New Year the holiday chaos is still sort of hanging on.

These photos are not from today but rather from a week ago, when I finally took down the christmas tree. It's not out all over the place anymore, but it's not all put away either. So I'll start the year with a trio of shots (I can't resist the details, because I do love all my ornaments) that represent taking down the old year, and hope that I can actually accomplish that sometime soon!

* I tread pretty lightly with resolutions, to avoid pressure and disappointment. My most successful resolution ever was "make my next hair appointment when I'm checking out from the current one;" a resolution I have kept for many years!

To that end I go for one thing a year. It took me 3 tries to (kind of, close enough) keep the "open my mail every day" resolve. This year I'm going for something enjoyable that nevertheless requires a bit of commitment. I have a camera that is easy to carry around, and easy to use, and I discovered I love carrying it around and documenting random things when I was in China last summer. So this seems like a good choice of discipline. And if I can organize myself to follow through on one thing, perhaps that commitment will bleed over into other resolves. (thus working towards the one true underlying resolve of every year, which is "get my act together.")
